Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into the limelight in 1994 when she released her debut Album Age Ain't Nothing But a number. When she was just 15 the album was awarded Gold status. R. Kelly heavily influenced the group and helped bring the singer into the spotlight. In 1996, Jermaine and Timbaland made Aaliyah's album One In A Million. The album contained the single If You Girls Only Knew the single that was most popular. With the debut of the album Aaliyah received international recognition for her work as an R&B singer. She was a part of the romance and action movie Romeo Must Die alongside martial artists Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die caught her during an awards event. She was a part of the vampire film that was based on Anne Rice Queen of the Damned, that came out in 2002. The Matrix Sequels was her first role in The Matrix Sequels. She had also appeared in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) as well as The Matrix Revolutions (2007). She received four Grammy nominations for 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2003. She is born of Indian heritage and was born Connecticut. Mann is a contraction of her married first name Mankad. Aarti has both Aarti Majumdar and Aarti Munn for her professional names. While she started out with tiny film and television roles, her acting started growing in popularity around the mid 2000s. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. The actress has been featured in commercials of major brands such as international automobile manufacturer Volvo. The actress lives in Los Angeles with her husband as well as her daughter, and is continuing to develop her acting career.
